Sometimes I sit here and think, I'm a pretty tough guy. Physically and mentally I feel tough. Then I look at my daughter who has to deal with this disease (diabetes) and realize that my strength doesn?t compare to hers. She has so many things to think about and carry out on a daily basis, from checking her blood sugar, counting carbs, watching her diet and receiving insulin shots, these are just a few things to think about. I couldn?t imagine having to live with this and having to manage this everyday. The strength and perseverance that she displays each day has inspired me beyond belief. She is not the only one living with this; more then 15,000 new cases are diagnosed every year. My heart goes out to everyone living with this and my advocacy for this will continue until we have a cure. I never thought that my 5 year daughter would be my Idol, but she has taught me so much, that it has made me a better person all around. My little princess is my biggest companion when I feel down, all I have to do is look at her and see what she is going through and my worries just fade away. Kaylie, you are my hero and my reason to fight.
