Fighting the Unseen Life With Diabetes Diabetes Doesn't Define You The Lobster Man of New England |

About Me
I grew up in Northern CT and MA. I enjoy living in New England- even for the snow! I have been writing stories and books since I was 14.
I published my first book, "Test", at the age of 20 (though it was written between 16-18).
My second book, "Wretched (this is my sorry)", was published in May 2008. This book is my baby. This is the one that I worked so hard for, and wrote from the gut of my stomach. It is not a memoir- but it is very personal.
My third book, "Okay", was published in October 2008.
I am very excited to be here! I am looking to fulfill my dream of becoming well enough known that I can stay at home and work all the time! Some day it'd be great to be able to quit my mundane job and do what I was built to do- imagine, create, and write!
I've been diabetic since I was 14- which was 11 years ago this September 23rd, 2009. I've been through diabetic related seizures, insulin shock comas, and ketoacidosis. I definitely have not had it easy!
But, it's really hard to offend me, as I take most everything in stride and don't let little things "get" to me.

Jenny Craig helps me greatly with carb counting because that's basically what I eat. My healthcare team is thrilled about that because it makes life easier for them. lol
I have learned a lot about nutrition, empty & complex carbohydrates. However, diabetes is a never-ending learning experience and like you said, everything we eat, don't eat, plus time of day, illness and a million more factors tie into our BG levels. One day the numbers can be perfect and the next day, even if we eat the same way the numbers will be way off. That's why it's so important to test, test, test. Yesterday I had the same breakfast, same amount of insulin.... yesterday my BG after 4 hours was 120.... today 244. Go figure. I think only GOD knows how our bodies really work. lol Just keep testing, do corrections when needed, etc... and be happy. :-)
Hi Marps... No, I don't do web design. I create business cards to brochures. I used to do that full time, now I just freelance at home. My full time job is a consultant for Jenny Craig... just something I wanted to do. :-)
