I'm wanting to switch to the Animas Ping. I'm currently still on my mother's insurance until I can get onto my own, but what insurance company covers Animas Ping supplies? Along with the Ping I'm wanting to get the Dexcom 7+. I've not had a demo with either gadget because I found out my Endo is more a MM user then an Animas, but with that said in mind it's my illness and I need what works best for me. I like the features the Ping offers, rather then what's on the MM.. I just need to know which insurance would cover a lot of the costs. Also, is there a trade in policy where the company will take my MM for an Animas?

Mandie,

These are great questions.  You might want to call Animas customer support or trying getting in touch with your local Animas rep to see if they have a trade in policy.

Insurance coverage are "usually"  the same for pumps.  They aren't brand specific.  However coverage on CGMS can be more difficult to get.

All in all you have to check with your ins to find out what they cover, ins policies are all so different.

Thanks! I'll be sure to do that. I just don't want them to do a follow up call for two years solid :) So I'll end up calling them later on this week and just ask some questions and go from there be like "I'd like a one time consulation, talking about the Animas pump." hopefully that will work.

As far as I can tell um Blue cross should cover it I am in the prossess of getting a ping myself and the Dexcom 7+ also so you aren't alone on this. What I had to do to go full force on getting this pump and getting the CGM I had to change doctors I mean really it was something that was really needed at the time but the pump was my modivation to finally do it because my doctor I had at the time wasn't very helpfull. I switched to a doctors office that is more supportive of the ping and everything.  To be honest with you I go back to the doctors on tuesday and I am worried sick that they aren't going to give the ok and let me get my pump. I've done everything they have asked of me and litterally the order for the pump is all ready to go they just have to give they ok and they will mail it out to me. Wish me luck though I feel I am really going to need it this week.
