Hi, i´ve been a T1 for almost a year. Recently, i´ve been having a lot of trouble controlling my bg especially waking up and in the mornings. Then later in the day, it seems to stay between 120-200. I eat max 60g of carbs a day and work out in the evenings, so i think i lead a fairly heathly lifestyle. in general, i am waking up with really high numbers, anywhere from 180-350. i take lantus in the morning because before i had trouble going low at night. i take humalog depending on the carbs i eat. then i try to correct with humalog and 2 hours later it is still 300ish. today for example.... 8:30am fasting BG 181, then took 20u. lantus 9am 30g oatmeal no sugar, 3.5u humalog 11am BG 400!
im wondering if this could be a result of injecting in different locations (i recently stopped injecting all the time in my stomach)? or caffeine intake? some sort of infection? anyone have ideas as to what might be going on????? thanks
i thought my insulin had gone bad, since im out in the sun most days, but i started using new insulin yesterday and it hasnt made a difference yet. | |

thanks for the suggestion. last night i woke up at 2:30am and my BS was at 67. Then, this morning by 8am it was at 176.
From what i have read, it seems like it might be the Somogyi effect. So tonight im going to try less long acting insulin and see what happens....
