I have decided to switch to apidra and i am wondering if anyone has had any problems with that type of insulin.  My edno thinks it is the greatest thing in the world but we have had differences in the past about stuff so i am unsure what to expect from the switch.

I used it for a while in my pump and it seemed to have a faster reaction time which really messed me up since I had to change when I bolused for meals because it was faster. also it didn't seem to have the same action time in the body it was a shorter duration it was 3 hrs for me while my humalog was 4.5 hrs so I ended up switching back to the humalog.

I have used it in the past a well in a pump.  I would still be using it, if my cost was lower.

I personally noticed a faster onset of action with Aprida compaired to Humalog and Novolog.

Sometimes I experienced a feeling of a low BG when I had a High BG and corrected it with Apirda.  I think how fast my numbers dropped made me feel that way.  But other then me getting used to that it was good.

I also had to make adjustments with my insulin does for Apidra.  It was around a 15% adjustment.

Like I said, those are my experiences and not medical fact.

my cozmo died today so i am waiting for a new one to start the apidra.  The new one will be here tomorrow.  I tried to get a purple one but settled  for a green one.

I am lucky my insurance covers most of the cost of most of my insulin and pump stuff.   Thanks for the info  i will keep the stuff you both in mind while i do the switch..

Thanks

JT

The switch is going well.  My new cozmo and apidra are working well together.  So far far i had to lower all my rates but keeping a good eye on it.  Thanks again for the info
