Well, since this is the first post in this section, I guess I better make it a good one. I got permission from my CDE (Certified Diabetic Educator) to start my pump. There was some confusion, and I guess they forgot I had been a pumper for 7 years now. Well when I told her that I was coming in for pump training, she asked why. I told her thats what they said I had to do. She then started laughing, and told me if I hadnt killed myself by this point, it probably wasnt going to happen (We have a pretty open dialog in case you cant tell) So after waiting for my Animas resivour to empty out, here I sit loaded, primed, and ready to rock. I will let you know how it goes.

Day 1: So far so good. No alarms except my initial "Check Settings" alarm that happened when I first did the rewind on the pump for the Infusion set. I can already say that I like the IOB feature better than the one on the Animas Ping.

I had a bit of a scare this morning though. I woke up at 5:20AM with a BG of 47! I thought my meter was on the fritz, as I felt fine. I re-tested and got a whopping 47 again! So I drank a 12oz coke to get it back to 80. I tested again at 7:15AM and was......66! I guess I wasnt done "going low" at that point. Wierd part was, I thought I was high when I woke up! That would have been scarry if I had just bolused like I had thought about doing. Good thing I tested or I might have been writing this to you from a hospital bed.

All in all I do know that the low wasnt due to my settings (triple checked them) or pump operation. I have been trying some new positions on my abdomen and side for Infusion sites. I guess I found one that seems to be working well! Will update as new coolness uncovers itself.
