I just wanted to share a cute and amazing story. Well, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on September 13, 2008. I am a huge animal lover and I have several of them [especially cats] 2 days ago, my cats Tiger, Chester, and Willie rushed to me at 4:30 in the morning  because they could tell there was something wrong. And I didn't feel good and I felt like passing out. I kept nodding in and out of consciousness and it turns out I had a bg of 38. The amazing part of this was that my cats knew before I did! They did everything to try and get my attention. They bit me [gently] meowed continuously, put their paws on my face, scratched at the couch ect. If they never would've got my attention and gotten me to check my sugar, I don't know where I'd be right now.  My cats saved my life.

That's amazing.  You are so lucky to have those special cats!  I am so glad you are okay and the Cat saved the day.

PS  I wish my cat knew about gentle biting.  Mine would have drawn blood, which might make it easier to check your blood sugar.

yes cats can be helpful with diabetes they can tell something is wrong before we know ie i just my cat to a cayote a month ago he would being my meter to me

I have 7 cats (2 of them in my current profile pic here) but none of them seem in tune to my diabetic needs. One is very much in tune to my mood though - any time I'm upset, even just the tiniest grump moment, she's next to me offering hugs and kissing my forehead! It's adorable. She also has a foot fetish, she checks out everyone's feet & shoes. She'll wait outside the shower and when I come out she'll sniff and lick my feet (maybe she thinks I don't clean them properly lol).
