After my fiance died in a car accident we were in a month before our wedding I swore off dating thinking I wouldn't find anyone who would accept me for me. Then I met two other guys and my world begun to be whole again or so I thought. They tried hard to understand and deal with the ups and downs of my Diabetes but they just couldn't hang. Again my heart was broken but it was cool I respected their feelings and continued my friendship with one of them(lets call him John), since the other guy no longer desired to be friends.
So John call me today and say he wants to be more than just friends and wants to know if I want the same thing. My heart say don't take the chance and get hurt again. But my mind say take the chance it could be a chance at real love. When I was just in the hospital he was there with me everyday from the time visting hours started until they were over. He has really been there for me. Do I date him or not.? What is the probablility that this is my secound chance at real love? Could he have learn to deal from being friends over the years? If only I could see into the future to see how it turns out.
To date or not to date John that is my question. Just what's on my mind this Sunday afternoon.

Sorry to hear about your fiance. I would say go for it give John a 2nd chance. The first time he could have been just scared but now he has gotten over it. It is better to have love and lost then to not have love at all. So I say yes date him and see where it goes.

My wife, as you see beside me in the picture, is the biggest help and support to me with my diabetes. It sounds to me like you've found someone who is willing to accept you for who you are and what you have. As my dad always used to say "faint heart never won fair lady". I suppose in your case, "faint heart never won good lad"! Sometimes you need to take the chance, and that chance may lead you to someone who you need. Its hard to make a decision on something like this. I wish you the best, and remember to take your time. Someone who loves you will understand if you're somewhat trepidatious.

John and I have been dating for 12 days now. He seems different now than he was before. He is more accepting of me and my diabetes. He has seen what happens when my BGs are high and when they are starting to go low, but he has never seen what happens when they are low and that I was afraid for him to see. But he saw it today and had to act. Because of trying to catch up on school work, and work 2 part time jobs I did a bolus on my pump for my lunch (BG was 80) and started to eat then got a call from my boss and did not finish eating (I forgot all about finishing my lunch). Did some more school work, washed clothes, and watched a movie. 3 hours later John comes home I am having a seizure.
He is scared out his mind not knowing what is going on and what to do. So he calls 911. Come to find out that my BG was 8! So I have him calling my ma telling her what happened. So she is yelling at me, and he is also. He is like you have to pay attention!
I am typing this from my hospital bed.But I beleive as you said someone who loves you will understand... and I think he do.
