Anyone got / seen a Humapen Memoir? My Diabetes nurse gave it to me when I mentioned that I sometimes forget if I've had my Lantus or not... it's fantastic! It's something I always wished was invented, and here it is... yay! For those not familiar with it, it's a typical insulin pen but it remembers the time, date, and how many units I've taken. So I'll never forget whether I've had it or not It's not made for Lantus - it's for Lilly insulins, but it fits fine and the dosage is exactly the same (in my experience to date, anyway). The only issue is that Lantus cartridges seem to come more full than the Lilly ones, so I have to screw the needle on, remove the cap, THEN connect it to the rest of the pen and watch a few units of insulin squirt across the other side of the room as I screw it on! I hate the waste but it's worth it for a great new toy.

Wow, I should have thought of that. I had the same issue sometimes when I was on shots. Asking myself "Did I do my Lantus?" What a great idea for a pen. I would have worried alot less when I couldn't remember if I did a shot or not.

So Em,
Do you have one for each of your insulins? I forget sometimes if I have taken my morning insulin, or how much I have taken, because I am still groggy. I was really curious when I saw those.

Unfortunately I can't have one for my Novorapid, as much as I'd love one! I think you can get them for humalog though (or is it humalin, whichever one is the Lilly version of NR). I considered changing insulins just for the pen, but now I'm just hoping the the NR people make their own memory pens - get on with it, people! lol
NR can't be made to squish into the pens like Lantus can - they have an extra bit that wont fit ![]()
