Hey everyone! A few days ago I tried putting my infusion set in my arm. And because the cord is so long it fit nicely in my pocket with just enough slack (keep in mind I'm 6'3 lol). But after I took it out I noticed this weird red bump pattern that felt weird for a few days. So I guess my question is "Where do you guys like to do your sets and what pattern do you use?" I have 2 diabetic friends with pumps and they both zigzag across the torso and never go to the back, arm or anywhere else. Im always curious to see what other experienced diabetics do lol.

I rotate my sites from side to side on my stomach and then to my Butt.
I stay away from my arms and legs for a few reasons: 1. I find if I have the site on my arm, while changing my clothes I tend to get it snagged more. Especially when taking off my shirt. 2. Another reason I stay away is becasue of the absorption differences between my stomach and butt to my legs and arms. When I was on shots with Humolog I noticed a difference between injecting in my stomach compaired to my arms and legs. 3. For me, sometimes it hurts on my arms.
I am not saying by any means infusion sets on your legs or arms are bad. I just choose to stay away. Many people have success in thos areas.

I'm not a pumper so forgive me a little ignorance on the topic... but I just wanted to point out that I wouldn't want it in the arm because of absorbtion issues. I inject in my arm when I want to lower my BG *fast*... and it works. Couldn't use my arms for daily jabs, that leads to things going seriously wonky!
Naturally everyone is different, of course, but it's fairly widely known that arms absorb insulin faster than other areas, and also you have more of a risk of hitting muscle and then having totally nutty reactions.

I have been pumping forever and have used every site known to diabetics lol but normally I use my back sides and my stomach then when I want to hide it my arm works with the tubing going under the shirt down to my pocket and well I stay away from my thighs they are too muscular and my but well some how I manage to ripe those out with my pants or sitting agianst it bothers me.

I normally rotate my site side to side on my stomach. The only time I used my arms and back sides was when I was pregnant with my daughter. It felt funny at first but after the first few times it was okay. I will be using them during this pregnancey too.

Ive been pumping for 7 years now. I used my arms exclusively for 6+ of those for the following reason: Absorption may be slower but its more consistant than my stomach. Im a big boy, and when I infuse in the stomach fat, I run high then low. Its like the fat has to be "Soaked" in insulin to start maintaining proper BG levels. But then later (12 or so hours) all that extra bolusing catches up in a big way . Im trying some different areas on my upper abdomen that seem to be working very well. The only reason I am is to give my arms a break.

Im not a pumper(But soon i will get my own pump)
I have many firends with pumps MOST ,and i always have seen them putting their pump on stomach butt or chest(females),they all have Medtronic, and my doctor always said that putting your pump on your arm or leg would be uncomfortable cuz you always use your arms and legs /sports and every thing else, it may crush and many other things...
Im on shots and almost always when i get a shot on stomach it hurts but Bill i will try your advice !

I'm new to pumping (less than a month) and i have found that putting the site in my abdomen helps me stay aware of it and protect it from snags and such. Since I have so much territory to work with, I don't see a need to go anywhere else. Plus, it's true that absorption rates vary with other sites.
