I get asked this question repeatedly day in and day out.  See a year ago I decided to try going back on MDI's again.  I thought I could maintain just as good of control on injections as I was getting with my MiniMed Paradigm pump.  Let's just say I couldn't have been further from right.  I have spent the last year feeling like complete crap.  Can I say that word here?

I have used MiniMed as my pump provider since well forever.  However I was treated to trialing the Deltec Cozmo pump, the OmniPod, and the Animas.  Sorry Bill, I just couldn't get into the Cozmo.  The thickness of it, it's actual shape, and the programming of it.  Just didn't work for me.  Now while I like the MiniMed it doesn't have those extra small basal rates with the larger screen and food database...oh and the 4th basal profile...yes i use ALL 4!  There are a few other things I like also.  That leads me to the Animas pump that I will be getting next week.  Nope I'm not getting the Ping, nor am I getting the 2020.  I am getting their IR1250.  It's the same as the 2020 just no color screen, which I really don't need anyways.  I prefer just to bolus from the pump and having that meter pump connection really doesn't bother me, plus I love the meter I use now. 

So I am looking to STOP walking like a drunkard when I have never drank a drop in all the years I've been alive.  I actually had some officers ask if I was drunk...nope officer just dangerously high!  Okay so they didn't take that too well until I pulled out my medical ID tag.

So needless to say I am trying, yes trying to walk up the steps without passing out or just plain falling down tonight...what an ugly sight!  I finally make it to my room and I test because I know stuff isn't right...well I was 610 not right!  Ketones and all!

You know I had feelings a year ago to take a break from pumping and go back on shots.  From your experience it looks like it was a good idea for me not to try that.

Can I ask what you had trouble with going back onto shots?  What did you not expect?  I would love to hear what your answers are I think that would help alot of people.

ohhhhh the CoZmo.  Yes you are right, it is a bit bulky.. it's ok not hard feelings.

My time is running out on the Cozmo... I was thinking of Animas as well when that time comes.

Can't wait to hear how you like that pump seeming you have tried a few already.

I hope those sugars get in the range you are looking for, nothing worse than feeling like a Zombie when High.... YUCK  I hate that.
