Wow! A tattoo cgm?? That sounds weird! Just the other day I learned that they have this car-remote looking thing that allows you to use your pump without looking at it. That's probably an old thing by now but Im glad that new cool technology is coming out!

The tattoo is something I would get. Not only would it color change when my BG changes, but who wouldn't want a color changing tattoo. The the tattoo is tiny!

i dont know if this should go under technoligies, but what about some non medical products that make our life easier. Right now i can think of two personaly, G2 by gatorade 17 carbs for 20 ounces. doesent spike you, its perfect if you "slip" into a low. every flavor is good, except for fruit punch. Next item is good for a sweet treat. No sugar added nestle quick. only 7 carbs for two table spoons(allthough you only need one for an 8 ounce cup of milk). i really cant think of any non food items, other than carb counting books, that make my life easier. any thoughts

Not sure if it's new, but my boyfriend got me a foodsmart scale for my birthday. He hated my scale. It helps me more acurately guess my carbs, especially when I am closer to sleeping time.

When my boyfriend comes over and cooks for me, he gives me a list of the calories, fiber, carbs, potassium, and sodium in the food. I have kidney issues, so it helps me to know approximately how much of those things, and more, are in the food.

The eatsmart scale is cool, definitely not a necessity, but makes my life easier. I don't have to multiply by carb factors now. Before I weighed food and then multiplied by the carb factor.
Calories mean nothing to diabetics unless trying to lose weight.
Fiber: 1. If counting carbs, subtract fiber from total carbs, b/c they don't affect blood sugar levels. 2. If counting calories, include calories from fiber. 3. Women should have 25 g/day and men should have 30 g/ day. 4. This scale reminds me about the fiber I am eating. (The readout is right by the carb readout) I was pleasantly surprised that most days I get at least 25 g of fiber without even trying.
Since I am on water pills, I actually have trouble keeping my potassium level up, and I have to be careful to eat enough sodium, but not too much. If I don't eat enough, I get light headed. If I eat too much I swell.

Yes cargo's are a diabetic necessity!!! Some very nice ones that I love and therefore cannot live without is 5.11 tactical cargo pants. Its the same ones that police SWAT teams use. They are made of Poly Vinyl Ripstop Materials. Super durable and TONS of pockets and hiding spots. I use the the 2 "Spare Magazine" pockets for my pump and cell phone. Go to www.5.11tactical.com to see what they have to offer. They are a bit on the expensive side ($50 a pair) but the pairs I have a 3 years old and look as good as the day I got them. Hope this helps.
