So its been 5 months now since i was dx as a type 1 diabetic and let me just tell ya its been HARD!!! A lot harder than I thought, especially being 21 and a college student. I'm learning that I have to take every day one step at a time. Although it s been hard its been very rewarding. I've laughed, I've cried, I've had highs and lows but in the end I've come to realize that I can do anything I put my mind to. I am so greatful for places like this. Its a place I can go to no matter what and realize I'm NOT alone!!! Thats the best feeling in the world....to know that there are ppl LIVING everyday despite thie craziness. And so I decided I'm going to live and fight. No...I am going to fight to live! So just be encouraged that you are making a difference in peoples lives. Thanks again for bring us all together to share our uniquely similar stories!!
You have a story....so tell it!!! Michele

Michele,
So ahppy to have you here. You have the right attitude! Diabetes is a tricky game. Highs, Lows, insulin adjustments, almost everything can cause your blood sugars to swing.
Just be encouraged is a great attitude to have. Some people with diabetes struggle because they "don't care" They don't feel the need to help themselves.
I look forward to hearing more.
Take Care,

as a newly diagnosed diabetic, it's hard to cope with daily injections and monitoring of blood glucose... my doctor is still trying out dosages and it is quite tiring even though its only been a month.
i've just seen a dietician and have meal plans to follow now, and it was discouraging to still have a 16.0 blood glucose level 2hours after my meal.
thank you for all you helpful tips and insights, it did make it all a little easier.

Tiffany, you really do have a great attitude. A diagnosis of diabetes is life changing and tough to deal with. Plus there is so much to learn! You will get the hang of it and things will get better. You never stop learning as a diabetic, that is for sure!
