So I am very confused.. I am looking at calorie king and the starbucks site.  They both list black unsweatened iced coffee as having 22g of carbs?!?! Why does plain black coffee have any carbs???

If is has syrup that is not sugar free in it (which lots of iced coffees do), that would be where the carbs come from.  You should try a light coffee frapuccino with sugar free vanilla syrup.  If you get the tall size it is only 19g of carb and oh so good!

That is very weird.  I must go digging for more info on this....Here we go, according to www.thedailyplate.com which is usually really accurate, there are zero carbs in a black unsweetened iced coffee.  Other sites said carbs would only be an issue if you added cream or milk (duh!).  Maybe it is a typo on the starbucks site?  I guess the way to be sure is to get the coffee and drink it with no insulin and see if your BG rise at all.  Not exactly scientific but it will do in a pinch.

Sometimes I get the cinnamon dolce in a coffee frapuccino or a skinny latte, very tasty!  I wonder if we shoud alert starbucks to their error?  Hey, aren't you going on vacation tomorrow?  Have fun and be safe!

Wow no rise.  The cafeine in some coffees causes my BG to rise.  How does cafeine effect you guys?  I know for some (like me I am guessing) have some little trouble with it.

I will say that any instant favored coffee effect my readings it go up around 10 - 12. But, over the summer I got my hands on an Iced Cap Coffee (from Tim Hortons) It was so GOOD..but after I drank it I felt sleepy and passed out in the back of the car. What was that all about?

I think most people have a little trouble with it.  I drink so much Diet Coke everyday that my body must be made out of caffiene and artificial sweetners.  My doc tells me if I cut down on the soda then I will probably see some lows and have to adjust my basal.  I am not ready to give up my Diet Coke addiction just yet, it was the only sweet tasting food or drink I was allowed to have when I was first diagnosed.  The docs said I could have as much as I wanted and my family took that literally, hahaha!

Coffee only affects me a little bit, mainly in the mornings. My basal is higher until about 1100 am and so is my I:C ratio. It raises me about 10 points or so from my target. If I drink coffee any other time, all seems well. Diet Coke does not raise me. That I am really happy about. Not willing to give up my diet soda either Suzanne.
