So it might not have been my ulgy day but my neighbor had one.

I live in a condo community we call "The Cinnamon Sizzle" and my neighbor who turns 60 in 2 weeks asked me to check his blood sugar.  So I did and it was 217.  I wasn't sure how to react at first... so he asked if that was good.  I told him not really, but that we would check again in a bit to make sure.  An hour later or so we checked again and it was 203.

I think he knew that his number was not good so I explained to him some things about eating right and exercising.  I explained to him to my knowledge what type 2 diabetes was all about.   I told him to go to his Doctor soon.  But I also told him to stop by the next day and get a fasting BG before he ate for the day.

He came over in the morning and checked it again, and it was 153.  Well above the 70-110 fasting range.  I explained to him the ranges, and urged him to go to the doctors again.  This was today.

It was a bit wierd for me to see how someone reacted when they just found out some bad news.  I didn't know really what to tell him other then what we discussed the night before, for a few hours.  I don't think he would of reacted the same if I had not been a type 1 wearing a visible pump tube on my belly either.  Not in a bad way, just that he kinda kept everything in.

So before he left he told me, "So Billy I'm going to switch from Budweiser to Bud Light, Less Carbs like you said!"

At least he listened to one thing I told him.... :-)     We'll see how this goes.

Well, I hope he takes your advice and see's a doctor... I liked his response about the bid light though ;)

One time my wife said she felt week and realllly hungry, so I tested her BG and it was 70.  She was HYPO... She has had that same feeling a few times since and once it was 59.  So obviously she has Hypoglycemia.  She has never seen a doctor about it and it doesn't happen too often, but whenever she feel's "Hypo" she steels one of my juices.....

Update: As of 10 minutes ago my Neighbor showed up at my back patio holding his "Bud Light" high in the air!  He told me as he was waving it, "see Bill I listened to you, I respect you."

Note to self- Bud Light does not cure diabetes.  lol

wow beer to cure Diabetes ... that would be so wrong on so many levels lol.

 # I Reason don't not really like Bud Light.

I often am asked to take friends BGs as a joke and I will NOT do it because if I saw a bad number I don't know what I would do. :(

Wishing your (Bills) Neighbor and Kenny's wife ONLY the BEST!!!

My dad was biking home from work one day and he was tired and said that he felt low. (He was actually low one time in the mountains  years before, after hardcore hiking). So I test him and he gets a 100 and I laughed pretty hard at it and told him he should see what a 32 felt like.

Note to self: 17 units of humalog is a tiny bit different from 17 units of lantus. Also, 450 carbs is a LOT! lol

One time I took my brother's BG because he was really impressed by my Omnipod and PDM. His number was 212 mg/dl. We later found out he had eaten a whole bag of M&M's. FALSE ALARM!

If Bud Light cured Diabetes, then given the amount I have consumed over the years, Diabetes would owe me! Its not too bad for an American beer. I prefer German or microbrews from Denmark or Holland though. I will say that beer is better than water in some countries because its pasteurized!!! But thats another story for another 12 pack and some cherry flavored Pepto Bismol!!!
